Other Classes

NICA Approved 8 Hour First Aid Course- Private

This 8 hour course is approved by NICA. It is a blended format and includes a few hours of self paced videos through HSI. That includes Adult/Child CPR, AED and Basic First Aid. But it also includes a second course titled Stop Life Threatening Bleeding (similar to the federal “Stop the Bleed Program,” but better!!).

Each registered participant will complete the online videos prior to the in-person class. The in-person session is approximately 4 hour class and includes all of the hands-on components of the above mentioned blended classes. But then we go into more detail and practice the following:

NICA Specific items- Preparing for your bike ride

Splinting, hypothermia wraps, making a stretcher, understanding challenging weather, making a first aid kit, improvising items to render care, and several hands-on practice scenarios. The student will leave the class with their certificate for the “NICA-Approved 8 Hour First Aid Course” as well as the certification cards in Stop Life Threatening Bleeding and the CPR/AED/Basic First.

Folks have been asking for an “Advanced First Aid Course.” Well, we developed this course for our local NICA league, but we know this will meet the needs of many folks that want to be better prepared to help when faced with an emergency.
