This is the Health & Safety Institute (HSI) Pediatric CPR AED & First Aid blended course. Blended learning is comprised of an online course and an in-person skills evaluation. Once registered for a blended course, you will receive the online course via email within 24 hours. After completing the online course, you will meet with an instructor for your hands-on skills evaluation. The hands-on skills evaluation is the time/date you are registering for; this is a 30 minute session as it is only the hands-on skills evaluation.
The HSI Pediatric CPR AED & First Aid course is designed for anyone in the community and workplace setting, specifically a child care setting, and will cover the following topics:
- Sudden cardiac arrest and how to recognize an emergency
- CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) for adult, child and infant patients
- AED (automated external defibrillator) use for adult, child and infant patients
- Airway obstruction (choking) for adult, child and infant patients
- Working as a team to provide rescue efforts
- Primary assessment of a pediatric patient for first aid
- Medical Emergencies for pediatric patients
- Bleeding Control for pediatric patients
- Allergic reactions for pediatric patients
- Shock for pediatric patients
- Shaken Baby Syndrome
This course is best for:
- child care providers
- new parents and families
- babysitters/nannies
- community members interested in learning CPR AED + First Aid for pediatric patients
This online course is self-paced so you are not required to complete the entire online course in one sitting. You will be sent a course link that is unique to you. Your course link is how you will access your online course. Your course link can not be shared with anyone else.
Once an online course has been assigned to a student, it can not be returned back to KTB.

Digital certification cards are issued through the Health & Safety Institute (HSI) and are valid for 2 years. Cards are issued via email within 24 hours of completing your class.
A digital course book is also included with this certification! With your certification card, you will also receive the instructions for retrieving your digital course book.
