Wilderness First Aid (ASHI)

This is a jam packed course that goes beyond just basic first aid. It is designed for responders who would handle emergency situations outside of an urban setting, where EMS help may be 30-60 minutes away.  Emphasis is placed on the student’s ability to properly assess and treat a variety of injuries and hazards, using the contents of a prepared first aid bag and improvised materials.  Students will cover a wide range of topics including: This is “16 hour course” but there are options to complete it in one jam packed day. Options include working lunches, having a strong foundation in outdoor skills, and/or prior certification in Basic CPR/First Aid.

  • Bone and Joint Injuries
  • Patient History/Assessment
  • Emergency Patient Moves

(This course does not include CPR/AED training.)  There are no pre-requisites for this class.  Upon successful completion of the course, students receive an ASHI (American Safety and Health Institute) Wilderness First Aid certification card valid for two years.
